8 ways to generate reader’s interest in your blog

Blogs have replaced print magazines as the latest informative tool to find the best information. While it is much easier to access blogs, it is also cheaper. It only requires computer and internet network to access blogs. It is much easier to tap reader’s interest, but nevertheless, it requires effort, as there are millions of blogs doing rounds in the web. Readers need to be coerced to visit blogs with fresh and creative content.

It is always difficult to satisfy readers. There are many kinds of readers and everyone has their own field of interests. It is always important to specialize in particular genre to popularize your blog and make it interesting. Here are few significant steps to generate reader’s interest in your blog.

Finding readers need

Readers who browse through the web are hungry for more information. It is not always the fresh content that readers look for, but they also look for old information packed in a new way. Readers have become smarter, and blog owners should understand that they need to push in content with a unique approach. Ideas for topics are not always new, but freshness in the way a topic is approached is rather important, and that’s what readers look for.

Readers usually try and explore blogs to find something new in the same kind of topic that they have probably read in the past. The ability of the blogger to research the topic and add his own angle to reflect uniqueness, satisfies the blog visitor, and generates a possibility that he will return back at least once to your blog.

How does a blogger assess the need of the readers is crucial to a blog’s success. Has blogger got the knowledge up his sleeves to understand the genre of his blog and post content accordingly?

Readers generally get impressed with blogger’s awareness. His knowledge on the genre of his blog should be comprehensive, and readers love to explore blogs that shows maturity in posting content.

Post quality content

Readers love quality. They love to go through quality post. However, many bloggers fail to understand the true meaning of quality. A quality post is not only about grammar and tense. It is not just about whether blogger uses first, second or third person while writing content. Quality is the combination of proper usage of grammar, proper sentence construction and depth in content.

A post with good correct grammatical form, without depth in content will miss out on quality. Depth enhances reader’s interest in the blog. It also creates blogger’s reputation in the market. Depth makes the article unique. An article written without any concrete substantial evidence will fail to arouse interest. Experience leads to depth. The written content should have the blend of experience and language to create impact in the minds of the readers. It should also reflect the true reason why the post has been created.  A blog owner should therefore, hire experienced content writers to write content for his blog, if he is not able to produce high quality post himself.

Provide solutions

The hottest topic on the web is the “how to – Topics”. Every reader is somehow inclined to read post about “how to - Topics”. Such posts offer solutions. Blog owners should post content that help readers to overcome difficult situations and find solutions. A blog that has high number of topics with “how to” focus will tend to attract readers more than other blogs. It is highly likely that visitors to such blogs will pay a return visit.

A blog owner should focus on finding the difficult aspects of his blog’s genre, and write contents that talk about solving them. Topics should be practical and must relate to tips and “how to approach”. Internet savvy reader browses to find guides on specific topics, which helps him to track information and knowledge on subjects. Those are the articles that top the reader’s browsing list.

Add related posts widget

A blog with too many articles is always attractive, but readers will find it difficult to find each one of them. The best way forward would be to have widget to show related posts under each article. An article guide widget such as linkwithin will throw relevant articles on the reading page, and guide readers to know more about such topics hidden inside the blog, which otherwise will be difficult for readers to find them.

It is a good way to show related posts with thumbnail. It serves two purposes, firstly, it will lead to an increase in page views, and secondly, it will keep the readers engaged. If your blog has content that interests readers, then there’s a possibility that readers will be hooked on for much longer period of time. It also enables blog owners to increase readership.

The article archive layout should be visible to blog visitors

The layout of the article archive section should be on the top of the left, or on the right of your blog. If not on top, it should at least be in the middle right or left section of the blog, but definitely not in the bottom of a blog. Most bloggers make a mistake of having the article archive layout somewhere in the bottom, and that may annoy readers, especially, when they are eager to search for relevant articles in the blog. Blog owners should understand that the location of the article archive layout is equally important for successful promotion of blogs and also for generating reader’s interest in the blog.

Post content regularly

Readers generally love to visit blogs that provide new and fresh content regularly. No one likes to visit a blog and come up with the same old story. It not just annoys a reader, but the interest level of a reader also decreases considerably. His interest eventually dies down, if he finds that the blog has failed to provide updates regularly. If a blog has constant flow of visitors then it becomes all the more important for blog owners to feed their visitors with new and fresh content and keep the readers engaged and satisfied.

Reply to comments

Comments are not just a section to talk about anything you like. It is a place where visitors try and post their views about the written topic, or post something about the information within the topic. Take this opportunity to reply comments and increase your network. Your comment should encourage readers to come back regularly to your blog. A healthy comment is considered as a platform for making a new relationship. A blog owner should use the comments section as a tool to generate reader’s interest in his blog.

Criticism in the blog’s comments section should be used as a constructive measure to improve the performance of your blog, rather than taking criticism personally and looking at it with a negative frame of mind.

Strike a chord with your readers

The most vital of all the methods to generate reader’s interest in your blog is to try and strike a chord with readers. Know your blog’s subscribers and regular visitors. Learn about the topics, and subjects that interests them, and post articles about such topics regularly.
